I have always considered myself a visually creative person. I take pictures of almost every little moment to document my memories and emotions. I decorate my room and the spaces in which I live in a way that reflects my personality and creates a sense of peace. I dress in a way that is self expressive with bold prints and colors. I journal everyday adding visuals into my writing to depict my emotions. Creating a vision board was just another way for me to visually express myself. I began this vision board as a suggested activity for my Capstone course, but ended up creating every corner with meaning. When I thought about the center of my life, it was my faith. I thought about my brother telling me how everyday we “take up our cross.” This is wear my hands holding the cross at the center of the page came from. Surrounding the cross were four corners, each defining a certain theme in my life. The top left corner where you see “purpose” are my public service initiatives, hopes, aspirations, and motivational words. I involved an affirmation on the bottom of this corner from a peer I studied with in Denmark as a reminder to stay true to myself always in the midst of working with others. The top right where the words “by the sea” lay, is my section for envisioning my personal future. I envision myself with a family and a home that is always open and hospital to everyone, where people gather in a space that is full of joy and good energy, and where anyone can call home, family or not. The bottom left where the word “travel” sits is my section of personal life goals that stem from more personal passion and satisfaction.Lastly, the right corner where “the strength of humility” lies explains itself. This section is simply my inspiration corner of different quotes, sayings, and visions that motivate me and also are reminders to myself of who I want to be and how I want to live my life. This vision board encompasses how I envision discovering and living out my future, although as I have learned life is exciting in how it is unexpected and full of surprises.
